Two roads. Same destination. Very different journeys.
Provider-supervised testosterone optimization can be delivered several ways. The two most discussed are traditional TRT — injectable, cream, or gel administered on a regular schedule — and BHRT pellets, inserted once every three to five months.
Neither is universally better. They are different tools for different lives.
Traditional TRT — the daily or weekly approach
Injectable testosterone is typically administered weekly or bi-weekly. Testosterone cream is applied daily. Both are available via telehealth — your protocol is prescribed, compounded by Optimal Balance Pharmacy, and shipped to you.
The advantage is adjustability. If your dose needs refinement your provider can change it at the next check-in. The consideration is consistency — testosterone levels will naturally peak after administration and trough before the next dose. For some people this is imperceptible. For others the fluctuation is noticeable.
BHRT Pellets — the set-it-and-forget-it approach
A pellet roughly the size of a grain of rice is inserted near the hip in a ten-minute in-clinic procedure. It dissolves slowly over three to five months, releasing testosterone in a steady, consistent stream.
No weekly injections. No daily cream application. No peaks and troughs. The body absorbs what it needs at the rate it needs it. Many patients describe this as the closest thing to how the body naturally produced testosterone in its younger years.
The difference is like a river versus a tap. Both deliver water. The river is consistent around the clock. The tap requires you to remember to turn it on.

How does the choice get made?
Your provider recommends based on your lab results, your lifestyle, your history with self-administration (some people simply do not want to inject), and your clinical picture. This is not a consumer decision. It is a clinical one.
BHRT Pellets available in-clinic at Utah locations only. All other hormone protocols available via telehealth nationwide.
